JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention

Registration requirements

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and our Code of Conduct & Liability Policies agreement is required for each attendee, speaker and vendor.

Proof of vaccination is required to complete your registration, as well as for California venues, so it’s wise to begin the vaccine verification process as soon as possible so you can submit your proof of vaccination within two weeks of the online registration process.

Full vaccination is defined as having two Moderna or Pfizer shots, or one Johnson & Johnson shot at least two weeks prior to the event.

Submit proof of vaccination

Step 1 Take a photo or scan your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card to the device you will use to create a CrowdPass account.

Step 2 Click on the “Submit proof of vaccination” link above or the link in the registration progress email, or scan the QR code on the instruction sheet.

Step 3 Follow the prompts and complete the necessary information: Health Screening Form, Event Waiver and Release Claims agreement, and COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card upload. Information submitted for attendees must match the information given at online registration. Legal name, phone number, email address and date of birth are collected for verification purposes.

Advisers will be notified of student attendees missing approval.

It will be the responsibility of participating groups to organize the required information. If no proof of vaccination is provided, attendance will be refused, and no refund will be provided.

All registration forms and information are managed only by convention registration officials, with strict adherence to privacy protocols.

Registration for the in-person convention and online supplement opens at noon CT Feb. 1, 2022. Registration closes March 28. No on-site registration will be offered as part of our safety protocols.

Registration refunds (may not apply to some Extras) available prior to April 7.

Pandemic precautions

Executive directors of both JEA and NSPA are pandemic compliance officers trained to conduct safety-conscious conventions.

Based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is recommended attendees test for COVID-19 within 72 hours prior to traveling and convention attendance. Learn more about CDC travel guidelines.

Immediately prior to the convention, if you have been exposed to COVID-19, if you are in COVID-19-related isolation, or if you have COVID-19 symptoms, do not travel to the convention. Registration refunds (may not apply to some Extras) available prior to April 7.

Los Angeles County has reduced its masking requirements, and we are, too. Masks are no longer required at the spring convention but are still highly encouraged when in the convention space.

Organizers are following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and Los Angeles County and California mandates. Learn more about Los Angeles County’s Safer L.A. public order requirements.

Thank you for helping do your part to return to an in-person JEA/NSPA National High School Convention.

JEA and NSPA will continue to monitor the pandemic, including national, state and local guidelines and requirements.
