JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention

About the convention

The JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention is the nation’s largest gathering of high school journalists, advisers and journalism teachers.

Sponsored for more than 40 years by Journalism Education Association and National Scholastic Press Association, the convention traces its lineage to November 1923, when NSPA presented its first convention for high school journalists and their advisers. The fall and spring conventions now serve thousands of attendees.

The convention offers hundreds of instructional sessions, keynote speakers from national newsmakers, dozens of media critiques, JEA’s popular on-site media contests and the announcement of NSPA national winners for Pacemaker Awards and Individual Awards. NSPA also offers a convention Best of Show competition that celebrates current student media work.

Connecting with the attendees will be dozens of sponsoring vendors, at an exhibit area in the primary gathering space. Sponsors include companies with products and services for student media, educational institutions marketing to prospective students and organizations seeking to connect with the scholastic journalism community.

The preceding fall convention was presented virtually Nov. 1, 2021, to Jan. 15, 2022.

The next fall convention is Nov. 10-13, 2022, in St. Louis.

The next spring convention is April 20-22, 2023, in San Francisco.
